Decorating Delmarva HolidayFest started in November 2012. It encompasses family fun, activities, food, and holiday lights and displays. The HolidayFest supports communities such as local school, non-profits, and charitable organizations. Proceeds are divided up and given back in various ways to help support worthy groups and causes.
Decorating Delmarva HolidayFest is on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday starting Dec. 4 running through Dec. 20 at the Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del. The hours on Friday and Saturday are 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and the hours Sunday are 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Each weekend, a specific venue will be highlighted.
Dec. 4 – Dec. 6: Holiday Fair – Special vendors set up to offer unique holiday gift ideas
Dec. 11 – Dec. 13: Operation We Care – First Festival of Trees Auction; asking local businesses to donate a decorated tree to benefit Operation We Care
Dec. 18 – Dec. 20: Santa Send Off Party – Santa will be bringing Comet & Cupid for their first appearance on the Eastern Shore
There is also a display decorating contest for indoor and outdoor areas for many different categories. Come out and vote for your favorites! There are monetary prizes for the winners.
In the first three years of this event, Decorating Delmarva has donated over $80,000 to many groups on Delmarva. Mark Cathell, President of the Create 1 Dream Foundation, says the event is all about bringing the Delmarva communities together. “This event we feel in our hearts, many communities and families around the area needed. This event had a motto from the beginning, “to bring unity back to our communities,” Mark says.
There are also fire pits, food, craft vendors, nightly entertainment, money grab box, and games for children to enjoy. Admission this year is $7 a car load each night. Decorating Delmarva HolidayFest is a fun event for the entire family.
