It has been a tradition in Bridgeville, Del. for the past 24 years. Several people gather from all over to attend the Apple Scrapple Festival to enjoy the vendors, crafters and all things apple and scrapple.
The Apple Scrapple Festival is Oct. 9 and 10. The festival came about after a group of people got together and discussed ways to promote their town and the agriculture industry that is so prevalent in western Sussex County. They came up with the Apple Scrapple Festival. T.S. Smith and Sons Farms in Bridgeville produces some of the best apples around and RAPA Scrapple is processed just up the road. That’s how the festival got its name.
In 1992, 2,500 visitors were a part of the first Apple Scrapple Festival and now over 25,000 people come to Bridgeville to walk through the rows of vendors and crafters and to have a scrapple sandwich, of course! The festival serves as a major fundraiser for local community organizations and helps elevate awareness of the agricultural profession in lower Delaware.
There are many things for the family to do at the festival including checking out the great entertainment lineup. Dirt Road Outlaws and Apex Revolution have both performed on the DelmarvaLife stage and now they will be taking the Apple Scrapple stage. It’s going to be a great weekend in Bridgeville, Del.!
